India bans TikTok and other Chinese apps
India has banned 59 mostly Chinese apps - including the video portal TikTok, the UC browser of the internet giant Alibaba and the messenger service WeChat.
The programs endangered India's sovereignty, national defense, state security and public order, the Ministry of Information Technology said yesterday.
The ban follows the recent incident in the highly controversial Himalayan region between the two countries. According to the Indian depiction, there was violence between soldiers from both countries on the border, which is said to have killed at least 20 Indian soldiers. The two countries waged war on the border decades ago.
