Terror attack in Vienna


Terrorist attack in Vienna. There were lengthy exchanges of fire in an area around a synagogue in which a police officer was seriously injured and his life was in danger. Eyewitnesses speak of up to 50 shots. It is believed that more than 3 people have been killed and several seriously injured, but no further details were released so far.

Early reports also state multiple attacks at least four locations in Vienna. Two restaurants, the synagogue, and the Jewish community center in the area.

An officer is fighting for his life after one of the terrorists detonated an explosive belt, killing himself in the explosion. This is according to Metro News.

The terrorists are allegedly still on the loose. Breaking footage shows a large-scale operation of police searching the area.

Another shooting has just been reported at the #Hilton hotel in Vienna. In addition, hostages have reportedly been taken by the terrorists at a third location.

Multiple "heavily armed perpetrators" are still at large in Vienna, a police spokesman just announced on Austrian media.
Vienna police confirm the situation is still active and urges citizens to avoid the area and to stay at home.

23:00 Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna is reportedly being evacuated at the moment. Many people are still sheltering in restaurants following the still ongoing terror attack in Vienna, according to a witness account on Austrian TV.


22:40 Macron: "We, Frenchmen, share the shock and grief of the Austrians after an attack in Vienna. After France, it is a friendly country that is attacked. This is our Europe. Our enemies must know who they are dealing with. We will not give in to anything."
