EU Commission is suing Poland before the European Court of Justice

The EU Commission is suing Poland in the dispute over the Polish judicial reform before the European Court of Justice (ECJ).

Brussels - This was announced by the Brussels authorities on Wednesday. Specifically, it is about a law that came into force on February 14, 2020. Among other things, the judicial law undermines judicial independence and is incompatible with EU law, it was said in support of the complaint.

According to the will of the EU Commission, provisional measures are to be imposed until a final judgment has been reached. This is to prevent "serious and irreparable damage" that would be inflicted on the independence of the judiciary. Because of the judicial reform of the Polish government, Brussels had already opened several infringement proceedings and also submitted various complaints to the European Court of Justice.
