Left-wing extremism in Germany: Call for murder against AfD politicians

Berlin - After a murder call against 53 AfD politicians, two state criminal investigation offices have started to work. The background to this are several corresponding letters on a left-wing extremist page, which, in addition to the residential addresses of the politicians, also contain instructions for building explosives, reports Focus Online, citing the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).

Thereupon the BKA security group responsible for the personal protection of politicians and the police state security were alerted. The authors are members of Antifa. Among other things, the Thuringian AfD chairman Björn Höcke and the parliamentary manager of the AfD parliamentary group, Bernd Baumann, were threatened with death in the appeals.

Focus Online quotes from the appeals: "Let's kill the AfD's pigs with explosives. The time is ripe for tough action."

Left-wing extremist violence is increasing
The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) had already noticed a clear radicalization of the left-wing extremist scene in June last year. According to this, the development of “terrorist structures” is possible. Also "targeted killings" of political opponents were no longer unthinkable.

The number of left-wing extremist acts of violence increased significantly in the past year. According to the Federal Constitutional Protection Report, the security authorities registered 1,237 such crimes. This corresponds to an increase of 34.3 percent compared to 2019.
