Incompatibility of Islam and the US Constitution

Written by John (the other John).

We often hear in debates whether Islam is compatible or incompatible with the US Constitution, and those whom are asked the question generally answer the question in the most expeditious manner (i.e., they lie) by saying that the First Amendment protects people’s right to worship Islam, and they say that Islam is the “Religion of Peace” (as opposed to a “Religion of Peace”; i.e., the word “the” versus the word “a” gives it a sense of exclusivity regarding peace, thereby making this a double lie). But what is key here is that the question of compatibility was not answered; in other words, is the form of governing under the Koran (or Sharia law) compatible with the way of governing under the U.S. Constitution. So to answer this question, let us discuss the below key Constitutional provisions/principles:

Freedom of Religion:
US Constitution, 1 st Amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion…"

Koran 8:12 - "...I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every finger..."

Freedom of Speech:
US Constitution, 1 st Amendment: “Congress shall make no law….or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech…”,

Koran 33:36 - "It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about their decision."

Due Process:
US Constitution, 5 th Amendment: “No person shall…. be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law…”

US Constitution, 14 th Amendment: “…nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law"

Koran 2:191-193 - "...And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out..."

Private Property:
US Constitution, 5 th Amendment : “...nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation…”

US Constitution, 14 th Amendment : “…nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law;..”

Koran 8:69 - "So enjoy what you took as booty; the spoils are lawful and good."

Punishment:
US Constitution, 8 th Amendment: “…nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted….”

Koran 5:33 - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides..."

Abolishment of Slavery:
US Constitution, 13 th Amendment: “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude…shall exist within the United States…”

Koran 24:32 - "And marry those among you who are single and those who are fit among your male slaves and your female slaves..."

Equal Protection Clause:
US Constitution, 14 th Amendment: “…nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws….”

Koran 4:11 - "The male shall have the equal of the portion of two females"

Koran 2:228 - "and the men are a degree above them [women]"

Separation of Powers:
US Constitution, Articles I, II, and III: the government powers are with the Legislature, the Executive, and the Judiciary

Koran: Allah has all the powers.

So based on the above, it is evident what the answer is as to the compatibility of Islam to the US Constitution. So next time someone asks you that question, before you answer the question with a “yes” or “no”, analyze it first, and then let the questioner to draw their own conclusion without you answering the question.
