Climate change activists spill oily liquid in Frankfurt: cyclist falls

Activists spilled an oily liquid on the road on the Untermain Bridge in Frankfurt on Thursday, causing a cyclist to fall. She was taken to a hospital for clarification, a police spokesman said. The activists can be assigned to the group that had repeatedly caused traffic obstructions in Frankfurt in the past few days.

They therefore blocked both the Untermain and the Friedensbrücke. Some stuck to the road again. An oily liquid was also spilled on the Friedensbrücke, the police spokesman said. Both bridges were closed. According to the spokesman, traffic initially continued on both sides of the Main, but "a little more viscous than normal". However, the blockades make it difficult to cross the Main.

It is the fourth day in a row that activists have blocked streets in Frankfurt. With their blockades, they are demonstrating against the extraction of fossil fuels and are in favor of renewable energies. At the beginning of the week, criminal proceedings were initiated against those involved in the actions.
