Reports: EU bans coal imports from Russia
Brussels - This was reported by several media on Tuesday afternoon. According to Bloomberg, the measure is a direct response to alleged Russian war crimes in Ukraine. The ban on coal imports is said to be added to a package of measures aimed at strengthening existing measures and closing loopholes.
When exactly the ban would come into force remained unclear at first. According to Bloomberg, no sanctions are planned for oil or gas imports for the time being. All EU member states would have to agree to the ban on coal imports from Russia.
