Racist versus Savage: How the Concept of “Otherness” is Intended to Create Conflict by Division

Written by John (the other John).

The concept of “othering” your adversary/enemy has been a tactic used since the beginning of time by humans. In other words, Person(s) 1 are the “self” in which the sun, stars, and the moon are aligned just for them (and only them), whilst Person(s) 2 are the “other” in which they deviate from this perfection. With this shortcoming of Person(s) 2, they in turn must be excluded from normal society and become marginalized to the outer fringes, thereby making them inferior and subhuman whom must be defeated and subjugated to Person(s) 1. Moreover, the normal laws of society do not apply to these latter people. This is not a new phenomena, as this was done throughout history.

But the concept of “otherness” to create an enemy formally entered into political philosophy by Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (born 1770, died 1831) as a tactic to dehumanize other persons/groups, which then opens the door to justifiably and more acceptably to commit bad things upon them (ex. stealing from them is for their own good and for the good of the whole of society; i.e., “restorative justice”). After all, it is hard to harm somebody whom you like or whom is innocent, but it is easy to harm somebody who is bad or evil. Hence, by “othering” a group of people, this ethically and morally justifies the total domination and cultural subordination of Person(s) 2 by degrading them as some uncultured savage.

This concept of “otherness” is much more than mere “in-group preference”, in which in the latter the people have a mere preference for people of their own group, but in the former the other group is deemed inferior and subhuman whom must be destroyed for their own good.

Don’t believe me? Just read/listen to any extremist political group in how they label their adversary in their entirety as being:

  • racists
  • savages
  • parasites
  • hucksters
  • oppressors
  • etc...

and thus these groups must destroyed for the good of society.

You still think this is crazy? Then perhaps you should read “Critical Race Theory” (i.e., Criminal Race Theory) and see how they demonize an entire group people for no other reason than their unfavourable DNA for being susceptible to sunburn.
