Spain's First Deputy Prime Minister refuses to take photos with men only

Madrid - Spain's First Deputy Prime Minister, Nadia Calviño, has refused to be part of a group photo in which only men can be seen alongside her at a managers' forum. When the picture was to be taken, she left the group and waved it off, as reported by the dpa news agency. Only when a second woman came along did she have her picture taken.

The deputy prime minister promised in February that she would never again take a photo or participate in debates where she was the only woman. Society should no longer consider it normal if “50 percent of the population” is not present, she justified her decision at the time.

The president of the Spanish business association CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, called the action a "fuss" to journalists. It is important that there is equality in the workplace, not in photos.
