Berlin: Elderly woman dies after robbery - Police arrest 15-year-old from Bulgaria

The Berlin police have arrested a 15-year-old in connection with a robbery resulting in death. As the police announced, the suspect is a so-called “neighborhood-oriented multiple offender”. According to information from the Berlin Kurier, he is a Bulgarian national.

The crime happened on Tuesday morning. The suspect is said to have suddenly hit the 75-year-old in the face and tugged at her shopping bag. The woman then stumbled and fell. She was taken to the hospital with injuries to her face and a broken thigh, where she later died, police said.

Suspect follows the same pattern
The 15-year-old was arrested after allegedly assaulting another woman on Wednesday afternoon. The 79-year-old was also attacked from behind. The suspect is said to have hit her in the face and snatched her purse. The police were able to arrest the suspect in a nearby residential area. According to the investigations so far, he is also responsible for the robbery with fatalities committed two days earlier.

On Thursday, the young suspect is to be presented to a judge at the Tiergarten district court. A decision is to be made on issuing a pre-trial arrest warrant because of the risk of recurrence.
