The German Ministry of Economics supported the climate change activists of "Last Generation" with subsidies

According to a report by Welt, the ministry paid around 156,000 euros into an association account that is used to finance the climate extremist "last generation".

The climate extremists from "Last Generation" received indirect funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate (BMWK). Welt reports on Sunday. Accordingly, the group benefited from an account maintained by the Elinor association.

On request, the BMWK informed that the ministry had supported the "group account" project with 156,420 euros through an innovation program. A spokesman said that it was not the responsibility of the "funder or the project sponsor" to "check potential customers of a funded development or to impose restrictions". The project funding expired in April.

According to "Last Generation", they have now collected more than 118,000 euros in donations. The group did not answer a question from the newspaper as to what the money raised would be used for. Bavarian Minister of the Interior Joachim Hermann (CSU) called for reconsideration of support for platforms that "support the financing of criminal acts of the group 'Last Generation'".

Elinor CEO Lukas Kunert saw no problem in supporting "Last Generation". He told Welt that only groups that opposed democracy, called for violence or discriminated against other people were excluded from the account service. There is support for climate change groups that have engaged in civil disobedience.

According to the Welt report , the activists from "Last Generation" receive further support in law enforcement. The "Red Aid" is recommended as a contact point in a paper by the climate extremists. The association usually assumes 50 percent of the start-up costs. "Not always, but it doesn't hurt to ask, because the Red Aid definitely has money," says an internal handout. According to Welt information, the Red Aid is currently observed by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. The second point of contact is the "Environmental Trust Fund".

New announcements by climate extremists about blockades and protests for the coming autumn would be taken "very seriously" by the Federal Ministry of the Interior. "Left-wing extremists from different parts of the scene are trying to shift democratic discourses, supplement them with their own ideological positions, radicalize social protest and delegitimize the state and its institutions," said a spokesman. Violent left-wing extremists would also exert influence through action alliances.
