The number of illegal entries to Poland has fallen drastically thanks to the new border installations

Warsaw - Since the fortification of the Polish-Belarusian border, the number of migrants entering Poland illegally has decreased drastically. While the Polish authorities documented around 1,800 entry attempts in March, there were around 600 in June.

In July, 125 border crossings have been prevented so far, according to the spokeswoman for the Polish border guard Anna Michalska. "These are young men who come mainly from sub-Saharan Africa," she continued. "We've seen week by week since the construction of the barrier began that there are fewer and fewer attempts to cross the border illegally."

Interior Ministry: "The government has repelled the threat"
At the end of June, the border fortifications on the Polish-Belarusian border were completed. "By effectively defending the Polish border, the government has neutralized the threats posed by the operation that Lukashenko is carrying out in the interests of Putin," the Polish Interior Ministry said in this regard.

Last winter there was a crisis between the two countries due to the increasing number of refugees in the border area between Poland and Belarus. Poland had accused Belarusian ruler Viktor Lukashenko of deliberately smuggling migrants to the west.
