Mainz: Climate activist who glued himself to the road worked for the car industry

In Mainz, Raúl Semmler stuck himself so badly to the street that he had to be cut off the street with the concrete on his hand. But now it comes out: The climate activist has already received money from the car industry.

Raúl Semmler used to be an actor in front of the camera (Ein Fall für Zwei, Polizeiruf). In the meantime, however, the cameras are mainly focused on the Mannheimer when he is stuck on German streets as an activist of the environmental protection movement "Last Generation" last week in Mainz.

With sand and glue, Semmler had glued his hand so tightly to the road surface on the Alicen Bridge that the road had to be broken up with heavy equipment to free his hand from it. The images of the activist with a piece of asphalt on his hand then spread on social media, and at times there were even rumors that his hand would have to be amputated – a hoax.

However, Semmler has not only appeared in public as an actor and climate activist, but also as a professional speaker for commercials. In addition to spots for the Ministry of Finance in North Rhine-Westphalia, Rewe and Lidl, Semmler also recorded advertising and explanatory spots for the Volkswagen Group (SEAT). So for the car industry, with which he is currently fighting as a climate activist.

But what does the "climate sticker" himself say about this contradiction? Merkurist would have liked to speak to Raúl Semmler about this, but a request to him remained unanswered before the article was published.
