Multicultural Bonn: Young people planned to kidnap a police officer before New Year's Eve riots

Around 40 young men rioted on New Year's Eve in the Bonn district of Medinghoven - they are said to have aimed rockets and Pyrotech batteries at patrol cars and police officers.

Bonn - The public prosecutor's office in Bonn is currently investigating eight suspects between the ages of 16 and 19 for serious breaches of the peace, assaulting police officers, attempted bodily harm, arson and property damage. According to a report by "Spiegel", the alleged rioters are said to have set up a chat called "Silvester MV vs. Nazis", in which they exchanged information about petrol and gas for Molotov cocktails and planned the construction of "bombs" with black powder.

It is also said that kidnapping a police officer was considered. The defendant's lawyer denies the allegations.
