Peace demo in Berlin ended peacefully

The demonstration organized by women's rights activist Alice Schwarzer and left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht against arms deliveries to the Ukraine went "without problems" on Saturday.

Berlin - This was announced by the police, who were on duty with around 1,400 officers. The event was over after about three hours. There was a dispute about the possible number of participants: the organizers initially spoke of 50,000 participants, the police estimated the number of participants at 13,000 people.

After all, the two underground stations Brandenburg Gate and Unter den Linden had to be temporarily closed due to overcrowding. Slogans such as "Create peace without weapons" or "Diplomacy instead of arms deliveries" could be read on posters. In the meantime, well-known AfD politicians and a convicted right-wing extremist were also seen in the audience, something that was questioned by the local media which usually remains quiet about the identity of those at left-wing protests where violence and destruction of private property are involved.
