Marie-Thérèse Kaiser (AfD) fined 6,000 euros for telling the truth about the origin of gang rapists

District council member Marie-Thérèse Kaiser (AfD) has been found guilty of incitement by the Rotenburg district court. In an online posting, the woman from Sottrum referred to Afghans as gang rapists.

Rotenburg/Sottrum – The Sottrum AfD district council member and district chairwoman Marie-Thérèse Kaiser is guilty of incitement. According to the conviction of the Rotenburg district court, the 26-year-old referred to Afghans as gang rapists during her campaign for the 2021 federal election. According to the presiding judge Cordes, this is no longer covered by freedom of expression and disturbs public peace.

Kaiser was sentenced on Thursday to a fine of 100 daily rates of 60 euros each. This meant that the court remained below the 120 daily rates of 120 euros demanded by the public prosecutor. However, the judgment is not yet legally binding. The judge was able to give credit to the woman from Sottrum, who stated that her job was an office job for AfD member of the Bundestag Bernd Baumann, that she fully committed herself to the crime during the trial and in the previous police interrogation. “You were an exemplary defendant,” he said during the verdict.

Under the influence of the election campaign
So there were no discussions about the matter: In August 2021, a few weeks before the federal election, Kaiser was sitting on the train to Berlin and reading an interview by Hamburg Mayor Peter Tschentscher with the newspaper Die Welt. At the time, Germany was closely following the current events in Afghanistan, which was currently being retaken by the Taliban after the Western occupiers had begun to withdraw. The focus at that time was also on rescuing the allied local workers and their families and other people persecuted by the Taliban. Tschentscher announced in an interview that he would take in 200 refugees in Hamburg.

According to the court's interpretation, Kaiser is trying to use this interview for her election campaign after reading it. At the time, she is her party's direct candidate for the Bundestag in constituency 30 Stade I - Rotenburg II. The Sottrum native creates an image for her social media profiles and writes on it: “Afghanistan refugees; Hamburg SPD mayor for 'unbureaucratic' admission; Welcoming culture for gang rape?”
