May 1st in Germany: protests by left-wing extremists and feminist freaks

The queer-feminist demo entitled “Take back the night” started on Tuesday evening in Friedrichshain at Boxhagener Platz. Things remained largely peaceful until the end.

The demonstration was supposed to start at 7:30 p.m., but the train started moving significantly late. Slogan of the demo: “For the destruction of patriarchy”

Rockets were later fired from the train, and on Rigaer Strasse other left-wing groups greeted the train from rooftops with burning Bengalos.

According to BZ information, police officers were occasionally pelted with eggs at the end of the demonstration.

When the demonstration reached Warschauer Straße, the organizers broke it up early.

According to police reports, a total of around 2,800 people took part. The dissolution was then announced very quickly, said police spokeswoman Anja Dierschke. She was initially unable to say whether there had been any arrests.

More marches are expected during the day.
