Germany: Seehofer bans Hezbollah Islamic terrorist group

BERLIN. Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer (CSU) has banned the Islamic terrorist organization Hezbollah in Germany. He justified the move by calling on the Shiite group to destroy Israel. The organization is thus fundamentally opposed to the idea of international understanding - regardless of whether it appears as a political, social or military structure.

In connection with this, security forces in North Rhine-Westphalia, Bremen and Berlin searched institutions of associations that are said to be linked to Hezbollah. This is intended to prevent indications of cooperation with the terrorist group from being destroyed.

Authorities assume 1,000 Hezbollah supporters
The ban on activities prohibits the distribution of advertising material by the organization and the display of badges in public or at events. The assets of Hezbollah and its associated associations were also confiscated.

The security authorities estimate that there are around 1,000 Hezbollah supporters in Germany. There is no umbrella organization that acts as an official representative. Their supporters are organized in local groups such as mosque associations that isolate themselves.
