France on alert: Bomb threat in Lyon and mayor of Bron threatened with beheading

This Thursday, around 2:30 p.m., the Part-Dieu station in Lyon was emptied and a security perimeter was installed due to a bomb threat, SNCF told 20 Minutes.

A woman threatened to blow herself up, shouting “Allahou Akbar”, said the Lyon police, adding that a demining operation is still in progress. A dog team is also mobilized according to the SNCF. And the RAID is expected on site. The arrest of the suspect was made “without any incident”, underlines again the Sûreté du Rhône.

Around 2:30 p.m., the announcement of the evacuation of the premises caused a crowd movement at Part-Dieu, according to several witnesses present on the spot, including the deputy LR Damien Abad.

Bron: The mayor of the city threatened with beheading and soon placed under protection
Jérémie Bréaud, the young LR mayor of Bron ( Rhône ) threatened with beheading. Tags directly appealing to the elected official were discovered Thursday on three sites in the city. “Jérémy Breaud, we're going to behead you!” (sic), was written on a fence or even on the city's media library, less than a week after the assassination by beheading of history professor Samuel Paty in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.

Gérald Darmanin gave his support to Jérémie Bréaud by tweeting at the beginning of the afternoon. The Minister of the Interior thus announced that the prefect of the Rhône would take legal action at his request and that his mission was to provide "protection" for the mayor.

"I will not give in"
“These violent writings are unspeakable but do not impress me. I will not give in in the fight against delinquency and insecurity because security is the first of freedoms” reacted Jérémie Bréaud in a press release, specifying that he had lodged a complaint. And to add: "At a time when our country is a victim of the barbarism of radical Islam, where the values of the Republic are flouted on a daily basis, I cannot accept such threats and remarks towards myself and towards all elected representatives of the Republic, security forces, firefighters, teachers or the medical profession as a whole ”.

"Criminal sanctions against attacks on persons exercising, here a mandate, must more than ever be reinforced by real criminal sanctions and not by a simple reminder of the law", pleads the elected.
