Frankfurt: An African known to the police pushes 60-year-old woman onto the train tracks

FRANKFURT / MAIN. A Nigerian caught traveling without his train ticket in Frankfurt am Main pushed a 60-year-old woman into the track bed and seriously injured her after escaping from the inspectors. The victim survived the attack as no train was arriving.

The 49-year-old African was noticed by two controllers in the city train from Wiesbaden to Hanau without a valid ticket. They then asked him to leave the train at Frankfurt Airport station. When getting out, according to the police, he suddenly pushed one of the controllers aside and fled across the platform.

There he pushed a German so hard on his escape that she fell headlong into the track bed. The 60 year old lost consciousness for a short time due to the impact. However, the two inspectors were able to take her immediately from the track bed and alerted the rescue service.

Perpetrator already known to the police
Civil investigators from the federal police, who had observed the course of events, managed to arrest the Nigerian. He is now being investigated for bodily harm and for fraudulent behavior. In addition, the African, who is already known to the police, is accused of blackmail.

A year and a half ago, the case of a 40-year-old Eritrean caused consternation across Germany. He pushed a mother and her 8-year-old son onto the rails in front of an arriving train at Frankfurt Central Station. While the mother was able to escape at the last second, her child was run over and died.
