Germany: Three Syrian brothers arrested for planning a terrorist attack

The police arrested three brothers from Syria in Germany and Denmark who are suspected of having prepared an Islamist terrorist attack. According to information from the German Press Agency, one of them was arrested last weekend in Dietzenbach, Hesse. The police have reportedly arrested his two brothers, one of whom was in Dessau-Roslau, in Denmark. The chemicals were also found there, it was reported. The police found the image of the flag of the terrorist militia “Islamic State” (IS) on the cell phone of a brother.

The brothers' parents are said to live in Denmark. The family is said to have been in Europe since at least 2005 and to have been noticed earlier because of their extremist sentiments. However, no concrete evidence of terrorist activities was ever found.

The Federal Criminal Police Office had now become aware of the trio after one of the brothers in Poland ordered five kilograms of aluminum powder and sulfur each for delivery to Dessau-Rosslau in Saxony-Anhalt. It is not yet known where the alleged attack should have taken place. The brothers, aged 33, 36 and 40, were all born in Damascus, according to security circles.
