No space for Ursula von der Leyen next to Erdoğan

People on social media are amused by the appearance of the EU Commission President in the presidential palace of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan: She was not allowed to sit next to the president because someone was already sitting there. She audibly displeased that.

An embarrassing situation arose during the visit of the President of the European Commission and the President of the EU Council to Ankara. When Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel were received by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in his presidential palace, there was apparently no adequate seating for von der Leyen or Michel.

Michel naturally sat down next to Erdoğan on one of the two representative armchairs. In videos circulating on social media since then and which have provided great amusement, von der Leyen’s outrage at this resetting can not only be seen - but also heard very clearly. She emits a clear "Ehm!?"

Finally she sits down on a sofa next to it - opposite the lower-ranking Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
