Germany: Four years of prison for Somali with multiple convictions after attacking pregnant woman

Mosbach - On Wednesday, the Mosbach district court sentenced a Somali with multiple criminal records to four years in prison for an attack on a pregnant woman. The judge saw it as proven that the 38-year-old immigrant had pushed the woman down the stairs on the station grounds in Neckarzimmern in the Neckar-Odenwald district, beat her and stole her cell phone, reported the Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung. According to the indictment, the Somali also kicked her in the stomach area.

Only after the intervention of a young woman did the attacker let go of his victim. While the attacked woman had to be hospitalized, the police were able to catch the perpetrator shortly afterwards. The woman said in court that she still has pain, especially in the neck, and is afraid.

Somali has multiple criminal records
According to the report, the immigrant has several criminal records. The man has already been charged with assault, property damage, theft, sexual harassment, fraud and driving without a license. In court he stated that he had very little memory of the robbery, but that he knew that he had not wanted to harm the woman. His defense attorney said her client had had problems with drug use and heard voices.

Only a few weeks before the trial, the Somali was on trial for another crime. However, the trial had to be interrupted "because language barriers had made communication impossible," as the Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung wrote. In the current trial, the court then called in three interpreters.
