Germany: Young Socialists in the SPD urge the admission of refugees from Belarus

Young Socialists in the SPD (Juso) boss Jessica Rosenthal (SPD) has confirmed her call for refugees to be admitted to the Belarusian border.

Berlin - It is now a matter of Germany helping "5,000 to 6,000 people," she told RTL and n-tv. "We can't look on and we have to act urgently, especially at Christmas time, and get these people out of there." Rosenthal had recently visited the area.

She described the situation as "fatal". The German federal government would have to coordinate such a step together with the Polish government, but it was "our responsibility" to act now and to help the refugees. "They are not taken care of, they are suffering right now and if things go really badly, then they can freeze to death in the snow."
