Office for the Protection of the Constitution: Taliban success boost German Islamist scene

The takeover of power by the Taliban in Afghanistan is fueling the Islamist scene in Germany, according to the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV).

Berlin - "Propagandistically, it leads to a boost," said Constitutional Protection President Thomas Haldenwang to the newspapers of the Funke media group. "The supposed 'victory' over the kuffar, the unbelievers, is being celebrated." Haldenwang is also concerned that the first IS returnees will be released from German prisons in the foreseeable future because they have served their sentences.

"We have to state that the radicalization often does not subside," said the BfV President. "The Office for the Protection of the Constitution is asked to examine each individual case. We need to know what is happening in the prisons and which people are still radicalized."

For this, an intensive exchange between the judiciary and the security authorities must take place.
