Germany: Violence against employees is often not reported

Berlin - According to a study commissioned by the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the proportion of unreported crimes is 70 percent. "Many fear that the many sharp tones, insults and threats will eventually be followed by a fist or a weapon," said the deputy federal chairman of the police union (GdP), Jörg Radek, the newspapers of the Funke media group (Saturday editions). In the study that has now been presented, it has also become clear that employees are demanding more backing from managers.

Under such conditions, one can hardly speak of a healthy working atmosphere, the police unionist emphasized. GdP Vice Radek called for "uncomplicated reporting procedures" and a "systematic recording" of acts of violence against employees.Radek said there needs to be "significantly more sensitivity" among executives in the public service to better prevent acts of violence during working hours.
