New economy minister in Argentina: "The right to travel collides with the generation of jobs"

The new Economy Minister, Silvina Batakis, rejected any possibility of devaluation and indicated that an "agreement" will be sought with the price makers. Likewise, she affirmed that "the right to travel (abroad) collides with the generation of jobs."

"Everyone has the right to vacations abroad, but we have to manage the reserves," warned the new official, who also promised that there will be no increases in agricultural withholdings.

She warned that they are going to "take all the measures so that these reserves are turned over to the productive sectors."

"The right to travel collides with the generation of jobs," Batakis said amid the lack of dollars. However, she stated that this does not mean that there will be new restrictions on access to foreign currency.

Questioning that Argentines allocate dollars to expenses abroad, the new Economy Minister did not mention a personal fact: her teenage son is currently in London, as part of a group study trip organized by the private school to which he attends.

Universal basic salary
Regarding the Universal Basic Salary promoted by Kirchnerism, Batakis said that this discussion is "linked to the 4.0 revolution" because there will be a strong transformation of the labor market. She stated that such a subsidy requires the state to achieve "fiscal sustainability."

Speaking to Todo Noticias, Batakis clarified that the issue of the Universal Salary requires "financing" and cannot be resolved in a short time.

"There is a part of the Argentine population that is in a position to afford the gas and electricity services they receive."
