Dresden: Radical climate activists glue themselves to the "Sistine Madonna".

Dresden - Two supporters of the “rebellion of the last generation” stuck themselves to the “Sistine Madonna” by the Italian artist Raffael in the Old Masters Picture Gallery in Dresden. “We are in an unprecedented crisis. The climate catastrophe will probably kill us if we don't massively change immediately," the group wrote on Twitter on Tuesday. For this reason, the daily routine must also be interrupted in art.

In addition, the "uprising of the last generation" shared a photo of the two radical climate activists in front of the painting, from the 16th century, which came to Dresden in 1754. The two of them glued their hands to the ornate gold frame of the altarpiece.

"We must now resist against a social course that is self-destructive. Saxon Switzerland burned for weeks. You keep adding fuel to the fire,” demands the young woman glued to the picture. “While we are here in the museum, the climate catastrophe is in full swing. People are already dying. People are starving,” warns her comrades-in-arms.

A man, who is believed to be an employee of the museum, asks the two to leave the picture gallery. He also takes a banner from them. The police finally cleared the entire museum, which initially remained closed for several hours, but is now open again. The officials took the radical climate activists into custody.
