North Rhine-Westphalia integration minister wants more immigration of skilled workers

NRW Integration Minister Josefine Paul (Green Party) wants to ensure that more foreign workers find jobs in NRW more quickly.

Düsseldorf - "We need specialists, also from abroad. We're seeing what the shortage of skilled workers is leading to. We'll work on that," she told the Rheinische Post (Saturday ).

The people who have fled to North Rhine-Westphalia from the Ukraine should be offered a perspective. "If they want, they should also find a home here with us. Temporarily for the time of the terrible war or in the long term," said Paul.

"That is our overall task in migration policy - not just with a view to Ukraine: to open up opportunities to create access to the labor market, to integration and language courses." She went on to say: "We also have to be much faster in recognizing foreign professional and educational qualifications. We can make good use of the prospects and potential of the people who come to us."
