VIDEO: German police kill man who yelled ‘Allah Akbar’ during knife attack

Authorities in Germany have shot and killed a knife-wielding attacker who stabbed two pedestrians while shouting “Allahu Akbar” near to the train station in the German city of Ansbach on Thursday evening.

Investigators have not yet confirmed a terrorist or Islamist motive, as seen in other recent attacks across the country, but police are still actively investigating this possibility.

Two victims were injured in the attack, but as seen in the video below, they belonged to a larger group of people. The two victims are not thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries and no police were injured.

According to the authorities, police utilized their firearms at approximately 6:00 p.m., resulting in the attacker suffering grave wounds and dying on the spot despite immediate resuscitation attempts.

The alleged perpetrator was a 30-year-old man, a police spokesman said, and confirmed that while he was known to police, authorities were reluctant adding, “We know who he is,” but did not want to give more details as the investigation is ongoing, according to the Die Welt daily.

Searches are currently underway in the surrounding area.

According to the police, the man attacked several passers-by south of the station and injured at least two people with a knife. It cannot currently be ruled out that the 30-year-old attacked passers-by indiscriminately.

Police are calling on witnesses to come forward.
