Germany: State group CSU warns against selling critical infrastructure to China

The CSU has criticized the federal government's economic policy and warned of a sell-out of critical infrastructure in Germany.

The CSU regional group chairman Dobrindt told the Rheinische Post that the principle of peace through trade had failed for the time being with regard to Russia and China. Germany must find the right answers to this and develop a new industrial policy principle of action. The newspaper quotes from a resolution paper from the CSU state group that is to be passed at the annual meeting in Seeon this weekend. In it, the sale of parts of the Hamburg port terminal to China is described as a mistake. The traffic light government coalition decided last year that the Chinese group Cosco could acquire a stake of less than 25 percent in the container terminal - instead of the planned 35 percent. Six ministries were in favor of a total ban on the deal over security concerns. Chancellor Scholz prevailed in the end.
