Islamist terror attack prevented in Germany


An Iranian (32) was arrested in Castrop-Rauxel (NRW) on Sunday night: He is suspected of having prepared a terrorist attack with biological weapons. According to Bild information, the FBI is said to have given the decisive clue.

The authorities announced this on Sunday afternoon. NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) had previously said that a "serious tip" was the reason for the access. During the measure, a 32-year-old Iranian was arrested on Sunday night for suspected attack plans.

According to the police and public prosecutor's office, he is suspected of having prepared a serious act of violence that is dangerous to the state. The authorities assumed that he procured cyanide and ricin to commit an Islamist-motivated attack. The search of the apartment should serve to find corresponding toxins and other evidence.

The accused and one other person were taken into custody.
