Nigerian love scammer gets ridiculous fine in Germany

A trial against Cletus Ugo C. was to take place yesterday before the Bremen district court. The Nigerian had identified himself in a dating portal in 2019 as "Professor Dr. Hugo Greham”, pretended to be in love with a woman and stole 65,000 euros from her.

Then the victim turned on the association “Scambaiter”, which voluntarily hunts down such love scammers. Decoy Doro L. (62) made an appointment with Cletus Ugo C. in Cologne (NRW) for the supposed date, while the police waited for him.

Four days ago, witness Doro L. was dropped off by the court over the phone. The 62-year-old was told that she wouldn't have to attend "on the grounds that the process takes place without witnesses."

When the reporters went to the courtroom yesterday, they found the door locked. When asked, the judicial spokesman announced: “The proceedings were discontinued against conditions. The accused pays 500 euros to a refugee aid.”

Cletus Ugo C. has a relevant criminal record. Doro L.: “That is not a deterrent. The perpetrator can look for the next victims.”
