More than 140,000 students from 397 schools took part in the student election.

The conservative-liberal VVD, which has been prime minister since 2010, received 10.8 percent of the vote. During the 2021 student election, the VVD became the strongest force with 20.1 percent. The VVD is followed by the electoral alliance of the Greens and Social Democrats (GroenLinks - PvdA) and the left-liberal party D66, each with 10 percent.
