Chaos on New Year's Eve in Berlin: attacks on police and emergency services

There are repeated pyrotechnic attacks on emergency services, over 200 arrests in Berlin alone, and at Alexanderplatz, hundreds of people, especially young people, fought real firecracker battles against each other and against police officers.

Riot on New Year's Eve in the center of Berlin

At the Neptune Fountain, very close to Alexanderplatz, around 500 people shot each other with pyrotechnics.

According to the police, officers arrived to disperse the group and check people for fireworks.

The officers from a group of around 200 people who were in the corridors of the town hall arcades were fired at with pyrotechnics. The officers were not injured, as a police spokeswoman said in response to B.Z.'s request.
