While most of the apprehensions of illegal immigrants took place in February 2024 at the southern border with Switzerland and Austria, most entries in March were recorded at the German-Polish border. Compared to the previous month, the number rose from 911 to 1,646 - an increase of 80 percent. Illegal crossings at the border with the Czech Republic and the air border also increased slightly.

AfD: Illegal immigration to zero
The AfD interior expert Hess criticized the increasing number of unauthorized entries to Junge Freiheit. “While Nancy Faeser is using the media to sell the border controls as a success, the figures reveal that the situation is still not under control.” Basically, the local officials lack the opportunity to “reject people entering illegally at the borders.” This requires a different migration policy.

However, Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) is not interested in this. “Instead, she wants to appease the public with symbolic politics. “This is purely an election campaign tactic,” complained Hess. He calls for a zero cap on illegal immigration.
