Germany: Robert Habeck criticizes the EU migration pact

Berlin - "The proposals ignore reality. They don't solve a problem, but rather increase the chaos," said Green leader Robert Habeck to Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAZ). In fact, everything is being pushed back to the external borders, and it is to be feared "that slum camps like Moria will not be stopped".

The southern countries like Greece and Italy would continue to be left alone. "Our proposal is: a quick, reliable and solidarity-based distribution mechanism. There are financial incentives for taking in refugees."

They went directly to the municipalities for housing, education and integration costs. Member States that refused to accept people in principle should instead make an appropriate financial contribution, at least equivalent to the actual costs of accepting refugees, and then benefiting those who are willing to accept them. "This would ensure that everyone would take part. And so you could forge a coalition of the willing," said Habeck to the FAZ.
