Watchdog group ad hits Biden administration for working with teachers’ union
A government watchdog group is launching a $1 million advertisement campaign against President Biden and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — after a Post expose revealed how a powerful teachers union influenced the administration on reopening schools.
The ad, paid for by Americans for Public Trust and uploaded to YouTube Monday, begins with a clip of Biden telling Americans to “listen to the scientists” about getting “children back to school.”
”We know schools are safe,” a voice-over says. “But Biden and his CDC secretly worked with the teachers’ unions to keep schools closed.”
The ad, first reported by Fox News, continues by claiming Biden and the CDC are “sacrificing kids” by keeping them out of school — all to “pay back liberal dark money groups.”

“With Biden – it’s always about dark money,” the ad alleges, directing viewers to DarkMoneyRewarded.com.
The advertisement quotes The Post’s May 1 article, saying “CDC willfully ignoring the science, slow walking a return to in-person learning.”
The Post’s reporting, based on emails obtained through the Freedom of Information Act following a request by the Americans for Public Trust, showed discussions between CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, the agency’s top officials and union representatives in the days before the Feb. 12 announcement on school-reopening guidelines.
The emails also showed that language suggested by the union was adopted into the CDC document.
“Top operatives who ran dark money groups are now working in the White House, and the extremist groups that got him elected are already seeing their policy wish list take effect,” the website, DarkMoneyRewarded.com, claims.
“It’s only the beginning of dark money running the Biden administration.”
Former Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt, the outside counsel for Americans for Public Trust, told Fox News that the emails “clearly show the CDC politicized science under pressure” from the union, which he called “both a teachers union and a dark money group.”
“Joe Biden has become the dark money president to the great detriment of students, parents and teachers alike,” Laxalt said.
He said children “already suffering from distance learning” were kept home and “exasperated parents were lied to.”
“Biden is putting the interests of dark money special interests over those of parents, students and teachers,” Laxalt claimed.
“The dark money groups pull the strings and the American people are suffering the consequences.”

The union defended its communications with the CDC in The Post’s report.
“The AFT represents 1.7 million educators, healthcare professionals and public employees who spent the last 14 months serving on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. So naturally, we have been in regular touch with the agencies setting policy that affect their work and lives, including the CDC,” said AFT spokeswoman Oriana Korin.
She said the union also worked closely with the Trump administration.
