Germany: Rapists in the city of Leer came to Germany in 2015 as refugees

Leer - The three suspected migrants in the case of the rape of a young girl in Leer came to Germany with the first wave of refugees. The two Syrians aged 18 and 20 and the 21-year-old Iraqi have been living in Germany since 2015, according to information from Bild.

In addition, the newspaper learned that the victim was only 16 years old. The three men are said to have lured her to an apartment in the Leeraner Südstadt last week and attacked her.

First of all, the responsible judge decided that the suspects did not have to be held in custody because there was no risk of escape. After a successful complaint from the Aurich public prosecutor's office, the men are now behind bars.

Suspects lived with their families
At the time of the crime, the migrants were not living in refugee accommodation, but in a private housing estate in the East Frisian city. They lived there with their families.

The former FDP parliamentary group leader in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, Gerhard Papke, was critical. he does indeed see the “brutal reality of failed integration policies”. The alleged perpetrators “were not socially isolated. All lived with their families. Apparently no one there explained to them that women are not fair game. A friendly integration course doesn't help,” wrote Papke on Twitter.
