Call for murder against AfD: the head of the constitutional protection department considers it a “false flag”

Erfurt - Thuringia's head of the protection of the constitution, Stephan Kramer, has not ruled out the possibility of a deception after the call for murder against 53 AfD politicians. “Just posting it on a platform where anyone can write is an indication, but not a proof. We have had 'false flag' actions in the past, so we need to be very careful with conclusions,” he said, as reported by MDR.

Such threats are not uncommon, especially during election campaigns, said Kramer. Something like this is related to attacks on election workers, damage to property and attacks on party offices. At the same time, however, he emphasized that the calls for murder were taken seriously. However, such attacks are unlikely at the moment.

The Office for the Protection of the Constitution considers killings by left-wing extremists to be conceivable
Last week two state criminal investigation offices started investigations after the murder call became known on a left-wing extremist website. The letter also contained the residential addresses of AfD politicians such as Thuringia's parliamentary group leader Björn Höcke and instructions for building explosives.

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) had already noticed a clear radicalization of the left-wing extremist scene in June last year. According to this, the development of “terrorist structures” is possible. Also "targeted killings" of political opponents were no longer unthinkable, it was then called in an analysis of the authority.
