Germany: ZDF is sticking to its collaboration with an anti-Israel author

Mainz - ZDF has justified the collaboration with the author Feyza-Yasmin Ayhan, who has come under fire for anti-Israel posts on social media. When asked by the Bild newspaper, the public broadcaster said that all productions commissioned by ZDF would be editorially checked and approved.

Among other things, Ayhan had justified violence against the State of Israel during an appearance at the Hamas-affiliated “German Youth for Palestine” in 2015 and wished for it to end. She also called for anti-Israel demonstrations during the escalation of the Gaza conflict in May. Among other things, she posted posts on Instagram in which she complained about what she believed to be a large lobby in Israel.

Politicians criticize the behavior of the ZDF
The Berlin AfD politician Georg Pazderski expressed criticism of the station's cooperation with Ayhan. “The suspicion arises that the public broadcasters are not paying close attention to Muslims,” he wrote on Twitter and at the same time recalled the similar case of the presenter Nemi Al-Hassan at WDR.

The CSU member of the Bundestag Florian Hahn called the “attitude of employees with repulsive anti-Semitic clichés” at ZDF “absolutely unacceptable” .

MTV ended its collaboration with Ayhan after a short time last year.
