Illinois Democrat calls Waukesha tragedy 'karma' for Rittenhouse acquittal "You reap what you sow," Lemanski tweeted.

An Illinois Democrat has called the fatal Christmas parade rampage in Waukesha, Wisconsin, "karma" for the Kyle Rittenhouse acquittal and claimed the suspected driver acted in "self-defense," another jab at Friday's not guilty verdict.

 

Mary Lemanski, who was listed as the social media director for the Democratic Party in DuPage County, Illinois, dimissed Sunday's tragedy in an online tirade.

 

 In one since-deleted tweet, Lemanski called the mass casualty incident "probably just self-defense," adding the hashtags "#Wisconsin" and "#KyleRittenhouse."

 

 

Other sardonic replies to tweets showed Lemanski claiming that the suspect in the rampage "probably felt threatened" and that he "came to help people."

 

"I'm sure he didn't want to hurt anyone," she added.

 

Lemanski's tweets appeared to mock Rittenhouse's self-defense argument made during the high-profile murder trial, which the Kenosha, Wisconsin, jury agreed with as the jurors found the 18-year-old not guilty on all charges.

 

"The blood of Kyle Rittenhouse's victims is on the hands of Wisconsin citizens," Lemanski wrote in another tweet, adding: "even the children."

 

 

 "You reap what you sow," Lemanski tweeted. "It's sad people died, but when you open the door to vigilante justice, everyone seems threatening."

 

 

"I'm sad," Lemanski stated on Twitter. "I'm sad anytime anyone dies. I just believe in Karma and this came around quick on the citizens of Wisconsin."

 

Lemanski resigned on Monday morning, Anne SommerKamp, the Democratic Party of DuPage County's executive director, told Fox News in an email.

 

"We are deeply saddened by the tragedy in Waukesha," the group's Twitter account said. "We are aware of statements made by a former member of our organization and find them to be incredibly insensitive and not in alignment of who we are as an organization. Our organization does not support hate in any form."

Lemanski's statement of resignation was posted by the DuPage Democrats on Twitter, "accepting the consequences" of the crass remarks.

 

"I firmly believe in the right to freedom of speech. I also believe that you must be willing to accept responsibility and the consequences of your actions for that free speech," Lemanski stated. "I unfortunately made some remarks that were not in good taste regarding the Waukesha tragedy yesterday."

 

The Post Millennial has independently confirmed that Lemanski's name was removed from the organization's staff webpage early Monday.

 

Lemanski's account on Twitter, where she said in the bio's description she was completing acting studies at Second City comedy group, has been scrubbed.

 

Sunday's tragedy during an annual celebration in the small city of Waukesha killed at least five victims and injured dozens when a driver in a red SUV plowed through a Christmas parade where youth were present, according to city officials.
