Germany: companies are sticking to the mask requirement

Despite the general relaxation of the corona virus, German companies are sticking to their protective measures.

Berlin - In a survey by Welt am Sonntag among the DAX40 companies, most of those surveyed stated that their employees would initially have to continue to wear a mask. The rule applies to Allianz, Brenntag, Covestro, Continental, Deutsche Bank, Hannover Re, Heidelbergcement, Fresenius, Merck, SAP, Sartorius and Vonovia, among others. Most of the time, employees only have to wear a mask indoors when they leave their own workplace.

Some companies, such as the car manufacturers BMW and Volkswagen, even insist on mouth and nose protection outside if the minimum distance of 1.5 meters cannot be maintained. The companies justify their caution with the currently high number of infections. As part of the critical infrastructure, the protection of employees and electricity production have "top priority", according to the energy supplier RWE, for example.
