Germany: Coal-fired power plants should be connected back to the grid in an emergency
Bonn - That's what the President of the Federal Network Agency, Klaus Müller, told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (Wednesday edition). He is still expecting a draft bill from the Federal Ministry of Economics in May. "I expect that power plant operators can and should use a number of coal-fired power plants again to generate electricity instead of gas," said the agency chief.
"That hurts the climate protector in me, because the greenhouse gas balance is getting worse." He pointed out that an underlying EU regulation obliges the member countries to help each other. "For example, we should show solidarity with Austria and vice versa," says Müller.
You could also depend on Dutch or Belgian gas because they are better equipped with their LNG terminals.
