Man ran his car 200 meters above the Tauentzienstraße
The 29-year-old had driven a Renault onto the sidewalk of Ku'damm at the corner of Ku'damm and Rankestrasse at around 10:26 a.m. The German-Armenian then drove back to the crossroads and continued east on Tauentzienstraße for almost 200 meters.

Shortly before the corner of Marburger Strasse, he steered the car off the road onto the sidewalk again, touched another car, crossed Marburger Strasse and ended up in the window of the local Douglas branch.

A teacher was caught and fatally injured, six people are still in mortal danger, many others are seriously injured. According to BZ information, a pregnant woman with a broken hip is said to be among the victims.

An eyewitness to BZ: "Suddenly blue lights were everywhere. The man was surrounded by a crowd of police officers. He came out of a side street off Douglas with the officers who were holding him and was given medical attention first. After that they took him away. He seemed motionless. Had himself arrested without further ado.”

According to the police, 130 forces were deployed at times. Several heavily armed police officers secured the area. In addition, investigators from the LKA, BKA and the Office for the Protection of the Constitution are on site. The entire area is cordoned off.

In addition to the rescue helicopter, a police helicopter was also deployed. The investigators want to get an overall picture of the situation on site, as a police spokesman said on Wednesday afternoon.

The police asked witnesses via Twitter to send information and photos/videos to the information portal.

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed his dismay. My deepest sympathy goes to them, all their relatives and survivors.”
