Berlin: Stabbed for working as a woman - knife attacker sent to psychiatric clinic

The 58-year-old German was volunteering in a front yard at the Güntzelstrasse/Prinzregentenstrasse intersection on September 4, 2021 when she was suddenly attacked.
First, the 30-year-old asked the woman "aggressively why she, as a woman, would cut the hedge here," the indictment said. Then he suddenly stabbed her with a knife from behind.
"There was a mistake, an accident"
The Islamic scholar, who was committed to the integration of migrants and did gardening on a voluntary basis, became a nursing case as a result of the crime. Because the left carotid artery was hit, she suffered a stroke that led to permanent paralysis on one side of her body, according to the indictment.
The perpetrator had also stabbed a 66-year-old passer-by who intervened to help. The 30-year-old had explained that he stabbed out of fear – "a mistake happened, an accident".
According to a report, the man developed paranoid schizophrenia at the end of 2020. The illness was accompanied by delusions of persecution. In addition, the 30-year-old has increasingly turned to his religion. Shortly before the knife attack, he spoke to passers-by and was noticed as a religious fanatic.
