Death toll in Germany train derailment rises to at least 5 as investigation continues
A fifth body was found on Saturday as emergency workers continued to comb through the rubble of a train that derailed in southern Germany on Friday, bringing the total number of deaths to at least five.
Police Chief Manfred Hauser said that at least another 44 were injured, adding that there could be young victims among them, "because the train was on its way home after school yesterday."
After several failed attempts, cranes also succeeded in hoisting at least one carriage of the train which had rolled off its tracks.
An investigation is ongoing into the cause, German Transport Minister Volker Wissing said. For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca
