Germany: Bild author Basad resigns because of the handling of the publishing company with wokeness

Berlin - Bild editor and bestselling author Judith Sevinç Basad has made serious accusations against Axel Springer Publishing House for dealing with the topic of "wokeness" and resigned. "I have the feeling that I can no longer report on the dangers emanating from this social movement," wrote the young woman on Thursday in an open letter to Bild boss Mathias Döpfner, in which she announced her resignation.

"No topic has driven me as crazy as a journalist as the activism of a small minority that officially claims to stand for diversity, but pursues an ideology that is radical at its core," she continued to justify her decision. The Bild newspaper turned against her on the subject.

According to Basad, for example, the newspaper prevented an article on the dangers of drug treatment for transsexuality. Shortly before, an appeal by five scientists on this topic had appeared in Welt and triggered a "shitstorm". "I was told to criticize the call for scientists or the article would not appear. In fact, I was asked to negatively portray exactly what I have been fighting with idealism for years: to warn against the dangers of woke activism,” criticized Basad.

The following day, the group completely buckled in front of "woke activists". In a letter to the workforce, gender-critical scientists were accused of "incitement against homosexuals or transsexuals". “The publishing house, which I always thought defended itself with a clear stance against ideologies – this publishing house of all people adopted precisely the meaningless rhetoric with this letter, with which not only I, but every person who offers a differentiated criticism of the woke movement operates, is repeatedly defamed as a misanthrope,” denounced the former political editor and author of the book “Scham dich!” (Shame on you!). Bild Editor-in-chief Johannes Boie contradicts the descriptions on Twitter. He encouraged the young woman to write the article, which in the end just didn't live up to what her proposal had initially promised.

Döpfner compares gender criticism with Holocaust denial
According to Basad, Döpfer denies the existence of two biological sexes and silences critical voices “in the best manner of cancel culture”. The publisher, which otherwise shoots at “the worst dictators in the world”, suddenly lets itself be “brought to its knees by the meaningless propaganda of a woke minority” and at the same time mocks its own journalists as misanthropes when they oppose this “bizarre spectacle".

Later, Döpfner once again defended his position of not publishing everything that gave the impression of being scientific. According to Basad, he cited studies by Holocaust deniers as a supporting example. "I don't know exactly in which direction Axel Springer is currently steering, which new ideals of 'diversity and freedom' are to be established in the corporate culture in the future."
