Germany: Education experts warn of the collapse of the school system
Berlin - "If we don't get this overload situation under control, it will be unavoidable that there will be a considerable drop in classes," said Maike Finnern, chairwoman of the Education and Science Union (GEW), to the Neue Westfälische.
For NRW, Ayla Çelik, chairwoman of the GEW state association, agreed with the prognosis. She said: "Here, too, we have an education system that is characterized by a state of deficiency. Without significant relief, we are heading towards a collapse." And Antonietta Zeoli, chairwoman of the NRW school management association, said that for the next Corona autumn everything must be done to prevent further staff shortages. "At some point, even the best team at school can no longer compensate."
