The Argentine Government seeks to promote a "law against hate" to persecute politicians and the media

“From there, they are working on a bill that will bring a lot of controversy in Congress,” said Alejandro Gomel, an accredited journalist at Casa Rosada.

The League of Governors, made up of Peronist leaders from thirteen provinces, met this Monday in Buenos Aires and showed their rejection of the assassination attempt against Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

In this context, the RePerfilAr team contacted Alejandro Gomel, a journalist accredited at Casa Rosada, who spoke about the governors' meeting and the controversy surrounding hate speech.

"After the attack against Cristina, there were several institutional repudiations and today it was the turn of the League of Governors," said Gomel, who later added: "They are meeting to repudiate the attack and they will make a statement about it."

"The repudiation of 'hate speech' from the ruling party is beginning to be repeated," fired the interviewee. “From there, they are working on a bill that will bring a lot of controversy in Congress”, he completed.

Finally, Gomel assured that in the executive power they are evaluating that the attack is a result of something that happens in society, for this reason they are considering to propose a bill to "repress hate speech from both politicians and the media.".
